Client: CitySmart, Brisbane City Council
Features: vintage componentry employed in a working interactive display
Completed: December 2009
Working with a timeline of only three weeks, I was to create an interactive display highlighting environmental issues, renewable and energy smart ideas for a stand at the annual Brisbane Exhibition.
I produced three interactive machines inspired by a 1930s “Flash Gordon” aesthetic which incorporated antique bakelite fittings. If you looked inside one pod, a question was asked and you found the answer by manipulating components of an old fashioned phone switchboard. Another pod had a bank of various incandescent lights that showed how much energy each used, with a magnifying lens highlighting environmental facts.
