This community arts project was initiated by Charleville’s local Queensland Health Office. The overall design illustrates a local dreamtime story about the formation of the Milky Way. Local elders shared the story and gave permission for its use. Designs for the seat and concrete treatment were workshopped with local high school students. Wally Wallwork and Phillip Collins (a local indigenous artist) worked together to illustrate the story using Spraycrete. The seat is positioned within the illustration as the Milky Way and features a star field of embedded LED lighting. The Milky Way seat was manufactured locally with the assistance of Bob Richardson, a retired local tradesperson.
